Description
Sarah Moore made history at the 2021 Formula One Styrian Grand Prix by finishing in 2nd place in the W Series race at the event which took place in pride month. Sarah, a Racing Pride Driver Ambassador became the first openly LGBTQ+ driver to stand on the podium at a Formula One race weekend.
This carbon-fibre helmet with custom paint proudly features rainbow stripes as well as the rose of Sarah’s home city of York and other highly personal details. New, it cost in excess of £4,000 and has now become a unique collectible in LGBTQ+ motorsport history.
There is some slight damage to the helmet’s rear spoiler, inflicted when Sarah was involved in an extremely dramatic crash during qualifying ahead of her race at the 2021 Belgian Grand Prix – an incident which was one of the factors leading to changes being made to the circuit ahead of 2022, and an extra detail in this item’s story.
